  1. 이 말씀은 야게의 아들 아굴의 箴言(잠언)이니 그가 이디엘과 우갈에게 이른 것이니라
  2. 나는 다른 사람에게 比(비)하면 짐승이라 내게는 사람의 聰明(총명)이 있지 아니하니라
  3. 나는 智慧(지혜)를 배우지 못하였고 또 거룩하신 者(자)를 아는 知識(지식)이 없거니와
  4. 하늘에 올라갔다가 내려온 者(자)가 누구인지, 바람을 그 掌中(장중)에 모은 者(자)가 누구인지, 물을 옷에 싼 者(자)가 누구인지, 땅의 모든 끝을 定(정)한 者(자)가 누구인지, 그 이름이 무엇인지, 그 아들의 이름이 무엇인지 너는 아느냐
  5. 하나님의 말씀은 다 純全(순전)하며 하나님은 그를 依支(의지)하는 者(자)의 防牌(방패)시니라

  1. The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,
  2. Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
  3. I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
  4. Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
  5. Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
  1. The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh--an oracle: This man declared to Ithiel, to Ithiel and to Ucal:
  2. "I am the most ignorant of men; I do not have a man's understanding.
  3. I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.
  4. Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know!
  5. "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
  1. 너는 그 말씀에 더하지 말라 그가 너를 責望(책망)하시겠고 너는 거짓말 하는 者(자)가 될까 두려우니라
  2. 내가 두 가지 일을 主(주)께 求(구)하였사오니 나의 죽기 前(전)에 주시옵소서
  3. 곧 虛誕(허탄)과 거짓말을 내게서 멀리 하옵시며 나로 가난하게도 마옵시고 富(부)하게도 마옵시고 오직 必要(필요)한 糧食(량식)으로 내게 먹이시옵소서
  4. 或(혹) 내가 배불러서 하나님을 모른다 여호와가 누구냐 할까 하오며 或(혹) 내가 가난하여 盜賊(도적)질하고 내 하나님의 이름을 辱(욕)되게 할까 두려워함이니이다
  5. 너는 종을 그 上典(상전)에게 毁謗(훼방)하지 말라 그가 너를 詛呪(저주)하겠고 너는 罪責(죄책)을 當(당)할까 두려우니라

  1. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
  2. Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
  3. Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
  4. Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
  5. Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
  1. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
  2. "Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die:
  3. Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
  4. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
  5. "Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it.
  1. 아비를 詛呪(저주)하며 어미를 祝福(축복)하지 아니하는 무리가 있느니라
  2. 스스로 깨끗한 者(자)로 여기면서 오히려 그 더러운 것을 씻지 아니하는 무리가 있느니라
  3. 눈이 甚(심)히 높으며 그 눈꺼풀이 높이 들린 무리가 있느니라
  4. 앞니는 長劍(장검) 같고 어금니는 軍刀(군도) 같아서 가난한 者(자)를 땅에서 삼키며 窮乏(궁핍)한 者(자)를 사람 中(중)에서 삼키는 무리가 있느니라
  5. 거머리에게는 두 딸이 있어 다고, 다고 하느니라 足(족)한 줄을 알지 못하여 足(족)하다 하지 아니하는 것 서넛이 있나니

  1. There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
  2. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
  3. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
  4. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
  5. The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:
  1. "There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers;
  2. those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;
  3. those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful;
  4. those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth, the needy from among mankind.
  5. "The leech has two daughters. 'Give! Give!' they cry. "There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, 'Enough!':

  2. 아비를 嘲弄(조롱)하며 어미 順從(순종)하기를 싫어하는 者(자)의 눈은 골짜기의 까마귀에게 쪼이고 독수리 새끼에게 먹히리라
  3. 내가 甚(심)히 奇異(기이)히 여기고도 깨닫지 못하는 것 서넛이 있나니
  4. 곧 空中(공중)에 날아 다니는 독수리의 자취와 磐石(반석) 위로 기어다니는 뱀의 자취와 바다로 지나다니는 배의 자취와 男子(남자)가 女子(녀자)와 함께 한 자취며
  5. 淫女(음녀)의 자취도 그러하니라 그가 먹고 그 입을 씻음 같이 말하기를 내가 惡(악)을 行(행)치 아니하였다 하느니라

  1. The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
  2. The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
  3. There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
  4. The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
  5. Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

  1. The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
  2. The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
  3. The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.
  4. There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:
  5. A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
  1. coneys are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags;
  2. locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;
  3. a lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in kings' palaces.
  4. "There are three things that are stately in their stride, four that move with stately bearing:
  5. a lion, mighty among beasts, who retreats before nothing;
  1. 사냥개와 수염소와 및 當(당)할 수 없는 王(왕)이니라
  2. 萬一(만일) 네가 미련하여 스스로 높은 체 하였거나 或(혹) 惡(악)한 일을 圖謀(도모)하였거든 네 손으로 입을 막으라
  3. 大抵(대저) 젖을 저으면 뻐터가 되고 코를 비틀면 피가 나는 것 같이 怒(노)를 激動(격동)하면 다툼이 남이니라

  1. a strutting rooster, a he-goat, and a king with his army around him.
  2. "If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth!
  3. For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife."
