  1. 智慧(지혜)로운 아들은 아비의 訓戒(훈계)를 들으나 倨慢(거만)한 者(자)는 꾸지람을 즐겨 듣지 아니하느니라
  2. 사람은 입의 열매로 因(인)하여 福祿(복록)을 누리거니와 마음이 詭詐(궤사)한 者(자)는 强暴(강포)를 當(당)하느니라
  3. 입을 지키는 者(자)는 그 生命(생명)을 保全(보전)하나 입술을 크게 벌리는 者(자)에게는 滅亡(멸망)이 오느니라
  4. 게으른 者(자)는 마음으로 願(원)하여도 얻지 못하나 부지런한 者(자)의 마음은 豊足(풍족)함을 얻느니라
  5. 義人(의인)은 거짓말을 미워하나 惡人(악인)은 行爲(행위)가 凶惡(흉악)하여 부끄러운 데 이르느니라

  1. A Wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
  2. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
  3. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
  4. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
  5. A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
  1. A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
  2. From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence.
  3. He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.
  4. The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
  5. The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
  1. 義(의)는 行實(행실)이 正直(정직)한 者(자)를 保護(보호)하고 惡(악)은 罪人(죄인)을 敗亡(패망)케 하느니라
  2. 스스로 富(부)한체 하여도 아무 것도 없는 者(자)가 있고 스스로 가난한체 하여도 財物(재물)이 많은 者(자)가 있느니라
  3. 사람의 財物(재물)이 그 生命(생명)을 贖(속)할 수는 있으나 가난한 者(자)는 脅迫(협박)을 받을 일이 없느니라
  4. 義人(의인)의 빛은 환하게 빛나고 惡人(악인)의 燈(등)불은 꺼지느니라
  5. 驕慢(교만)에서는 다툼만 일어날 뿐이라 勸勉(권면)을 듣는 者(자)는 智慧(지혜)가 있느니라 妄靈(망령)되이 얻은 財物(재물)은 줄어가고 손으로 모은 것은 늘어가느니라

  1. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
  2. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
  3. The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
  4. The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
  5. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
  1. Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
  2. One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
  3. A man's riches may ransom his life, but a poor man hears no threat.
  4. The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
  5. Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
  1. 妄靈(망령)되이 얻은 財物(재물)은 줄어가고 손으로 모은 것은 늘어가느니라
  2. 所望(소망)이 더디 이루게 되면 그것이 마음을 傷(상)하게 하나니 所願(소원)이 이루는 것은 곧 生命(생명)나무니라
  3. 말씀을 蔑視(멸시)하는 者(자)는 敗亡(패망)을 이루고 誡命(계명)을 두려워하는 者(자)는 賞(상)을 얻느니라
  4. 智慧(지혜) 있는 者(자)의 敎訓(교훈)은 生命(생명)의 샘이라 사람으로 死亡(사망)의 그물을 벗어나게 하느니라
  5. 善(선)한 智慧(지혜)는 恩惠(은혜)를 베푸나 詭詐(궤사)한 者(자)의 길은 險(험)하니라

  1. Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
  2. Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
  3. Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
  4. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
  5. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
  1. Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.
  2. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
  3. He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded.
  4. The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.
  5. Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.
  1. 무릇 슬기로운 者(자)는 知識(지식)으로 行(행)하여도 미련한 者(자)는 自己(자기)의 미련한 것을 나타내느니라
  2. 惡(악)한 使者(사자)는 災殃(재앙)에 빠져도 忠誠(충성)된 使臣(사신)은 良藥(량약)이 되느니라
  3. 訓戒(훈계)를 저버리는 者(자)에게는 窮乏(궁핍)과 羞辱(수욕)이 이르거니와 警戒(경계)를 지키는 者(자)는 尊榮(존영)을 얻느니라
  4. 所願(소원)을 成就(성취)하면 마음에 달아도 미련한 者(자)는 惡(악)에서 떠나기를 싫어하느니라
  5. 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)와 同行(동행)하면 智慧(지혜)를 얻고 미련한 者(자)와 사귀면 害(해)를 받느니라

  1. Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.
  2. A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
  3. Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
  4. The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
  5. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
  1. Every prudent man acts out of knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly.
  2. A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.
  3. He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
  4. A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.
  5. He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
  1. 災殃(재앙)은 罪人(죄인)을 따르고 善(선)한 報應(보응)은 義人(의인)에게 이르느니라
  2. 善人(선인)은 그 産業(산업)을 子子(자자) 孫孫(손손)에게 끼쳐도 罪人(죄인)의 財物(재물)은 義人(의인)을 爲(위)하여 쌓이느니라
  3. 가난한 者(자)는 밭을 耕作(경작)하므로 糧食(량식)이 많아지거늘 或(혹) 不義(불의)로 因(인)하여 家産(가산)을 蕩敗(탕패)하는 者(자)가 있느니라
  4. 楚撻(초달)을 차마 못하는 者(자)는 그 子息(자식)을 미워함이라 子息(자식)을 사랑하는 者(자)는 勤實(근실)히 懲戒(징계)하느니라
  5. 義人(의인)은 飽食(포식)하여도 惡人(악인)의 배는 주리느니라

  1. Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
  2. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
  3. Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
  4. He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
  5. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
  1. Misfortune pursues the sinner, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.
  2. A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.
  3. A poor man's field may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it away.
  4. He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.
  5. The righteous eat to their hearts' content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry.
