  1. 무리에게서 스스로 나뉘는 者(자)는 自己(자기) 所欲(소욕)을 따르는 者(자)라 온갖 참 智慧(지혜)를 排斥(배척)하느니라
  2. 미련한 者(자)는 明哲(명철)을 기뻐하지 아니하고 自己(자기)의 意思(의사)를 드러내기만 기뻐하느니라
  3. 惡(악)한 者(자)가 이를 때에는 蔑視(멸시)도 따라오고 부끄러운 것이 이를 때에는 凌辱(릉욕)도 함께 오느니라
  4. 明哲(명철)한 사람의 입의 말은 깊은 물과 같고 智慧(지혜)의 샘은 솟쳐 흐르는 내와 같으니라
  5. 惡人(악인)을 斗護(두호)하는 것과 裁判(재판)할 때에 義人(의인)을 抑鬱(억울)하게 하는 것이 善(선)하지 아니하니라

  1. Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
  2. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
  3. When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
  4. The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
  5. It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
  1. An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment.
  2. A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.
  3. When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with shame comes disgrace.
  4. The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.
  5. It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice.
  1. 미련한 者(자)의 입술은 다툼을 일으키고 그 입은 매를 自請(자청)하느니라
  2. 미련한 者(자)의 입은 그의 滅亡(멸망)이 되고 그 입술은 그의 靈魂(령혼)의 그물이 되느니라
  3. 남의 말하기를 좋아하는 者(자)의 말은 別食(별식)과 같아서 뱃 속 깊은 데로 내려가느니라
  4. 自己(자기)의 일을 게을리 하는 者(자)는 敗家(패가)하는 者(자)의 兄弟(형제)니라
  5. 여호와의 이름은 堅固(견고)한 望臺(망대)라 義人(의인)은 그리로 달려가서 安全(안전)함을 얻느니라

  1. A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
  2. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
  3. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
  4. He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
  5. The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

  2. 사람의 마음의 驕慢(교만)은 滅亡(멸망)의 先鋒(선봉)이요 謙遜(겸손)은 尊貴(존귀)의 앞잡이니라
  3. 事緣(사연)을 듣기 前(전)에 對答(대답)하는 者(자)는 미련하여 辱(욕)을 當(당)하느니라
  4. 사람의 心靈(심령)은 그 病(병)을 能(능)히 이기려니와 心靈(심령)이 傷(상)하면 그것을 누가 일으키겠느냐
  5. 明哲(명철)한 者(자)의 마음은 知識(지식)을 얻고 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)의 귀는 知識(지식)을 求(구)하느니라

  1. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
  2. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
  3. He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
  4. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
  5. The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
  1. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall.
  2. Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.
  3. He who answers before listening--that is his folly and his shame.
  4. A man's spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?
  5. The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out.
  1. 膳物(선물)은 그 사람의 길을 너그럽게 하며 또 尊貴(존귀)한 者(자)의 앞으로 그를 引導(인도)하느니라
  2. 訟事(송사)에 原告(원고)의 말이 바른 것 같으나 그 被告(피고)가 와서 밝히느니라
  3. 제비 뽑는 것은 다툼을 그치게 하여 强(강)한 者(자) 사이에 解決(해결)케 하느니라
  4. 怒(노)엽게 한 兄弟(형제)와 和睦(화목)하기가 堅固(견고)한 城(성)을 取(취)하기 보다 어려운즉 이러한 다툼은 山城(산성) 門(문)빗장 같으니라
  5. 사람은 입에서 나오는 열매로 하여 배가 부르게 되나니 곧 그 입술에서 나는 것으로하여 滿足(만족)케 되느니라

  1. A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
  2. He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
  3. The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
  4. A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
  5. A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
  1. A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.
  2. The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
  3. Casting the lot settles disputes and keeps strong opponents apart.
  4. An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.
  5. From the fruit of his mouth a man's stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied.
  1. 죽고 사는 것이 혀의 權勢(권세)에 달렸나니 혀를 쓰기 좋아하는 者(자)는 그 열매를 먹으리라
  2. 아내를 얻는 者(자)는 福(복)을 얻고 여호와께 恩寵(은총)을 받는 者(자)니라
  3. 가난한 者(자)는 懇切(간절)한 말로 求(구)하여도 富者(부자)는 嚴(엄)한 말로 對答(대답)하느니라
  4. 많은 親舊(친구)를 얻는 者(자)는 害(해)를 당하게 되거니와 어떤 親舊(친구)는 兄弟(형제)보다 親密(친밀)하니라

  1. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
  2. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
  3. The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
  4. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
  1. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
  2. He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
  3. A poor man pleads for mercy, but a rich man answers harshly.
  4. A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
