  1. 마른 떡 한 조각만 있고도 和睦(화목)하는 것이 肉饍(육선)이 집에 가득하고 다투는 것보다 나으니라
  2. 슬기로운 종은 主人(주인)의 부끄러움을 끼치는 아들을 다스리겠고 또 그 아들들 中(중)에서 遺業(유업)을 나눠 얻으리라
  3. 도가니는 銀(은)을, 풀무는 金(금)을 鍊鍛(연단)하거니와 여호와는 마음을 鍊鍛(연단)하시느니라
  4. 惡(악)을 行(행)하는 者(자)는 詭詐(궤사)한 입술을 잘 듣고 거짓말을 하는 者(자)는 惡(악)한 혀에 귀를 기울이느니라
  5. 가난한 者(자)를 嘲弄(조롱)하는 者(자)는 이를 지으신 主(주)를 蔑視(멸시)하는 者(자)요 사람의 災殃(재앙)을 기뻐하는 者(자)는 刑罰(형벌)을 免(면)치 못할 者(자)니라

  1. Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
  2. A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
  3. The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.
  4. A wicked doer giveth heed to FALSE lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
  5. Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
  1. Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
  2. A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful son, and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.
  3. The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart.
  4. A wicked man listens to evil lips; a liar pays attention to a malicious tongue.
  5. He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.
  1. 孫子(손자)는 老人(로인)의 冕旒冠(면류관)이요 아비는 子息(자식)의 榮華(영화)니라
  2. 分外(분외)의 말을 하는 것도 미련한 者(자)에게 合當(합당)치 아니하거든 하물며 거짓말을 하는 것이 尊貴(존귀)한 者(자)에게 合當(합당)하겠느냐
  3. 賂物(뢰물)은 임자의 보기에 寶石(보석) 같은즉 어디로 向(향)하든지 亨通(형통)케 하느니라
  4. 허물을 덮어 주는 者(자)는 사랑을 求(구)하는 者(자)요 그것을 거듭 말하는 者(자)는 親(친)한 벗을 離間(리간)하는 者(자)니라
  5. 한 마디로 聰明(총명)한 者(자)를 警戒(경계)하는 것이 매 百個(백개)로 미련한 者(자)를 때리는 것보다 더욱 깊이 박이느니라

  1. Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
  2. Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
  3. A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
  4. He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
  5. A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
  1. Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.
  2. Arrogant lips are unsuited to a fool--how much worse lying lips to a ruler!
  3. A bribe is a charm to the one who gives it; wherever he turns, he succeeds.
  4. He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
  5. A rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool.
  1. 惡(악)한 者(자)는 叛逆(반역)만 힘쓰나니 그러므로 그에게 殘忍(잔인)한 使者(사자)가 보냄을 입으리라
  2. 차라리 새끼 빼앗긴 암콤을 만날지언정 미련한 일을 行(행)하는 미련한 者(자)를 만나지 말 것이니라
  3. 누구든지 惡(악)으로 善(선)을 갚으면 惡(악)이 그 집을 떠나지 아니하리라
  4. 다투는 始作(시작)은 防築(방축)에서 물이 새는 것 같은즉 싸움이 일어나기 前(전)에 是非(시비)를 그칠 것이니라
  5. 惡人(악인)을 義(의)롭다 하며 義人(의인)을 惡(악)하다 하는 이 두 者(자)는 다 여호와의 미워하심을 입느니라

  1. An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
  2. Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
  3. Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
  4. The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
  5. He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.
  1. An evil man is bent only on rebellion; a merciless official will be sent against him.
  2. Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.
  3. If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house.
  4. Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.
  5. Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent--the LORD detests them both.

  3. 智慧(지혜)없는 者(자)는 남의 손을 잡고 그 이웃 앞에서 保證(보증)이 되느니라
  4. 다툼을 좋아하는 者(자)는 罪過(죄과)를 좋아하는 者(자)요 自己(자기) 門(문)을 높이는 者(자)는 破壞(파괴)를 求(구)하는 者(자)니라
  5. 마음이 邪慝(사특)한 者(자)는 福(복)을 얻지 못하고 혀가 悖逆(패역)한 者(자)는 災殃(재앙)에 빠지느니라

  1. Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?
  2. A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
  3. A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
  4. He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
  5. He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
  1. Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?
  2. A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
  3. A man lacking in judgment strikes hands in pledge and puts up security for his neighbor.
  4. He who loves a quarrel loves sin; he who builds a high gate invites destruction.
  5. A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble.
  1. 미련한 者(자)를 낳는 者(자)는 근심을 當(당)하나니 미련한 者(자)의 아비는 樂(낙)이 없느니라
  2. 마음의 즐거움은 良藥(량약)이라도 心靈(심령)의 근심은 뼈로 마르게 하느니라
  3. 惡人(악인)은 사람의 품에서 賂物(뢰물)을 받고 裁判(재판)을 굽게 하느니라
  4. 智慧(지혜)는 明哲(명철)한 者(자)의 앞에 있거늘 미련한 者(자)는 눈을 땅 끝에 두느니라
  5. 미련한 아들은 그 아비의 근심이 되고 그 어미의 苦痛(고통)이 되느니라

  1. He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
  2. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
  3. A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
  4. Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
  5. A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
  1. To have a fool for a son brings grief; there is no joy for the father of a fool.
  2. A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
  3. A wicked man accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the course of justice.
  4. A discerning man keeps wisdom in view, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth.
  5. A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the one who bore him.
  1. 義人(의인)을 罰(벌)하는 것과 貴人(귀인)을 正直(정직)하다고 때리는 것이 善(선)치 못하니라
  2. 말을 아끼는 者(자)는 知識(지식)이 있고 性稟(성품)이 安存(안존)한 者(자)는 明哲(명철)하니라
  3. 미련한 者(자)라도 潛潛(잠잠)하면 智慧(지혜)로운 者(자)로 여기우고 그 입술을 닫히면 슬기로운 者(자)로 여기우느니라

  1. Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
  2. He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
  3. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
  1. It is not good to punish an innocent man, or to flog officials for their integrity.
  2. A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.
  3. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.
