  1. And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
  2. And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
  3. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
  4. And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
  5. And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
  1. Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest
  2. and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
  3. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.
  4. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
  5. "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied.

  1. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
  2. And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
  3. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
  4. And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
  5. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
  1. The Lord told him, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.
  2. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight."
  3. "Lord," Ananias answered, "I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem.
  4. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name."
  5. But the Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel.

  4. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
  5. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
  1. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name."
  2. Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord--Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here--has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
  3. Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,
  4. and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.
  5. At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

  1. But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
  2. But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
  3. And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:
  4. But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.
  5. Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.
  1. All those who heard him were astonished and asked, "Isn't he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn't he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?"
  2. Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.
  3. After many days had gone by, the Jews conspired to kill him,
  4. but Saul learned of their plan. Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him.
  5. But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.

  4. And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
  5. Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
  1. When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple.
  2. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.
  3. So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.
  4. He talked and debated with the Grecian Jews, but they tried to kill him.

  1. Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
  2. And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
  3. And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
  4. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
  5. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

  2. About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.
  3. Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!"
  4. Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
  5. Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.
