  1. 여룹바알의 아들 아비멜렉이 세겜에 가서 그 어미의 兄弟(형제)에게 이르러 그들과 外祖父(외조부)의 온 家族(가족)에게 말하여 가로되
  2. 請(청)하노니 너희는 세겜 사람들의 귀에 말하라 여룹바알의 아들 七十人(칠십인)이 다 너희를 다스림과 한 사람이 너희를 다스림이 어느 것이 너희에게 나으냐 또 나는 너희의 骨肉之親(골육지친)임을 생각하라
  3. 그 어미의 兄弟(형제)들이 그를 爲(위)하여 이 모든 말을 온 세겜 사람들의 귀에 告(고)하매 그들의 마음이 아비멜렉에게로 기울어서 말하기를 그는 우리 兄弟(형제)라 하고
  4. 바알브릿 廟(묘)에서 銀(은) 七十個(칠십개)를 내어 그에게 주매 아비멜렉이 그것으로 放蕩(방탕)하고 輕薄(경박)한 類(유)를 사서 自己(자기)를 좇게 하고
  5. 오브라에 있는 그 아비의 집으로 가서 여룹바알의 아들 곧 自己(자기) 兄弟(형제) 七十人(칠십인)을 한 磐石(반석) 위에서 죽였으되 오직 여룹바알의 말째 아들 요담은 스스로 숨었으므로 남으니라

  1. And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother's brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,
  2. Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
  3. And his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
  4. And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baalberith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him.
  5. And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.
  1. Abimelech son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother's brothers in Shechem and said to them and to all his mother's clan,
  2. "Ask all the citizens of Shechem, 'Which is better for you: to have all seventy of Jerub-Baal's sons rule over you, or just one man?' Remember, I am your flesh and blood."
  3. When the brothers repeated all this to the citizens of Shechem, they were inclined to follow Abimelech, for they said, "He is our brother."
  4. They gave him seventy shekels of silver from the temple of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech used it to hire reckless adventurers, who became his followers.
  5. He went to his father's home in Ophrah and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerub-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerub-Baal, escaped by hiding.
  1. 세겜 모든 사람과 밀로 모든 族屬(족속)이 모여 가서 세겜에 있는 기둥 상수리나무 아래서 아비멜렉으로 王(왕)을 삼으니라
  2. 或(혹)이 요담에게 그 일을 告(고)하매 요담이 그리심山(산) 꼭대기로 가서 서서 소리를 높이 외쳐 그들에게 이르되 세겜 사람들아 나를 들으라 그리하여야 하나님이 너희를 들으시리라
  3. 하루는 나무들이 나가서 기름을 부어 王(왕)을 삼으려 하여 橄欖(감람)나무에게 이르되 너는 우리 王(왕)이 되라 하매
  4. 橄欖(감람)나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 기름은 하나님과 사람을 榮華(영화)롭게 하나니 내가 어찌 그것을 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 搖動(요동)하리요 한지라

  1. And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.
  2. And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.
  3. The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us.
  4. But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
  5. And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, and reign over us.
  1. Then all the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo gathered beside the great tree at the pillar in Shechem to crown Abimelech king.
  2. When Jotham was told about this, he climbed up on the top of Mount Gerizim and shouted to them, "Listen to me, citizens of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.
  3. One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, 'Be our king.'
  4. "But the olive tree answered, 'Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and men are honored, to hold sway over the trees?'
  5. "Next, the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come and be our king.'
  1. 無花果(무화과)나무가 그들에게 이르되 나의 단것, 나의 아름다운 實果(실과)를 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 搖動(요동)하리요 한지라
  2. 나무들이 또 葡萄(포도)나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 王(왕)이 되라 하매
  3. 葡萄(포도)나무가 그들에게 이르되 하나님과 사람을 기쁘게 하는 나의 새 술을 내가 어찌 버리고 가서 나무들 위에 搖動(요동)하리요 한지라
  4. 이에 모든 나무가 가시나무에게 이르되 너는 와서 우리의 王(왕)이 되라 하매
  5. 가시나무가 나무들에게 이르되 너희가 참으로 내게 기름을 부어 너희 王(왕)을 삼겠거든 와서 내 그늘에 避(피)하라 그리하지 아니하면 불이 가시나무에서 나와서 레바논의 柏香木(백향목)을 사를 것이니라 하였느니라

  1. But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?
  2. Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us.
  3. And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
  4. Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.
  5. And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
  1. "But the fig tree replied, 'Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?'
  2. "Then the trees said to the vine, 'Come and be our king.'
  3. "But the vine answered, 'Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and men, to hold sway over the trees?'
  4. "Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, 'Come and be our king.'
  5. "The thornbush said to the trees, 'If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!'
  1. 이제 너희가 아비멜렉을 세워 王(왕)을 삼았으니 너희 行(행)한것이 果然(과연) 眞實(진실)하고 義(의)로우냐 이것이 여룹바알과 그 집을 善待(선대)함이냐 이것이 그 行(행)한대로 그에게 報答(보답)함이냐
  2. 우리 아버지가 前(전)에 죽음을 무릅쓰고 너희를 爲(위)하여 싸워 미디안의 손에서 너희를 건져내었거늘

  4. 萬一(만일) 너희가 오늘날 여룹바알과 그 집을 待接(대접)한 것이 眞實(진실)과 義(의)로움이면 너희가 아비멜렉을 因(인)하여 즐길 것이요 아비멜렉도 너희를 因(인)하여 즐기려니와

  1. Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands;
  2. (For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:
  3. And ye are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)
  4. If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:
  5. But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.
  1. "Now if you have acted honorably and in good faith when you made Abimelech king, and if you have been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family, and if you have treated him as he deserves--
  2. and to think that my father fought for you, risked his life to rescue you from the hand of Midian
  3. (but today you have revolted against my father's family, murdered his seventy sons on a single stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his slave girl, king over the citizens of Shechem because he is your brother)--
  4. if then you have acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub-Baal and his family today, may Abimelech be your joy, and may you be his, too!
  5. But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelech and consume you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelech!"
  1. 요담이 그 兄弟(형제) 아비멜렉을 두려워하여 달려 逃亡(도망)하여 브엘로 가서 거기 居(거)하니라
  2. 아비멜렉이 이스라엘을 다스린지 三年(삼년)에
  3. 하나님이 아비멜렉과 세겜 사람들 사이에 惡(악)한 神(신)을 보내시매 세겜 사람들이 아비멜렉을 背叛(배반)하였으니
  4. 이는 여룹바알의 아들 七十人(칠십인)에게 行(행)한 暴虐(포학)한 일을 갚되 그 兄弟(형제)를 죽여 피 흘린 罪(죄)를 아비멜렉과 아비멜렉의 손을 도와서 그 兄弟(형제)를 죽이게 한 세겜 사람에게로 돌아가게 하심이라

  1. And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
  2. When Abimelech had reigned three years over Israel,
  3. Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
  4. That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.
  5. And the men of Shechem set liers in wait for him in the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told Abimelech.
  1. Then Jotham fled, escaping to Beer, and he lived there because he was afraid of his brother Abimelech.
  2. After Abimelech had governed Israel three years,
  3. God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem, who acted treacherously against Abimelech.
  4. God did this in order that the crime against Jerub-Baal's seventy sons, the shedding of their blood, might be avenged on their brother Abimelech and on the citizens of Shechem, who had helped him murder his brothers.
  5. In opposition to him these citizens of Shechem set men on the hilltops to ambush and rob everyone who passed by, and this was reported to Abimelech.
  1. 에벳의 아들 가알이 그 兄弟(형제)로 더불어 세겜에 이르니 세겜 사람들이 그를 依賴(의뢰)하니라
  2. 그들이 밭에 가서 葡萄(포도)를 거두어다가 밟아 짜서 宴會(연회)를 排設(배설)하고 그 神堂(신당)에 들어가서 먹고 마시며 아비멜렉을 詛呪(저주)하니
  3. 에벳의 아들 가알이 가로되 아비멜렉은 누구며 세겜은 누구기에 우리가 아비멜렉을 섬기리요 그가 여룹바알의 아들이 아니냐 그 長官(장관)은 스불이 아니냐 차라리 세겜의 아비 하몰의 後孫(후손)을 섬길 것이라 우리가 어찌 아비멜렉을 섬기리요
  4. 아하, 이 百姓(백성)이 내 手下(수하)에 있었더면 내가 아비멜렉을 除(제)하였으리라 하고 아비멜렉에게 네 軍隊(군대)를 더하고 나오라고 말하니라
  5. 그 城邑(성읍) 長官(장관) 스불이 에벳의 아들 가알의 말을 듣고 怒(노)하여

  1. And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him.
  2. And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and trode the grapes, and made merry, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech.
  3. And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?
  4. And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out.
  5. And when Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled.
  1. Now Gaal son of Ebed moved with his brothers into Shechem, and its citizens put their confidence in him.
  2. After they had gone out into the fields and gathered the grapes and trodden them, they held a festival in the temple of their god. While they were eating and drinking, they cursed Abimelech.
  3. Then Gaal son of Ebed said, "Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should be subject to him? Isn't he Jerub-Baal's son, and isn't Zebul his deputy? Serve the men of Hamor, Shechem's father! Why should we serve Abimelech?
  4. If only this people were under my command! Then I would get rid of him. I would say to Abimelech, 'Call out your whole army!'"
  5. When Zebul the governor of the city heard what Gaal son of Ebed said, he was very angry.
  1. 使者(사자)를 아비멜렉에게 가만히 보내어 가로되 보소서 에벳의 아들 가알과 그 兄弟(형제)가 세겜에 이르러 城邑(성읍) 무리를 衝動(충동)하여 當身(당신)을 對敵(대적)하게 하나니
  2. 當身(당신)은 當身(당신)을 좇은 百姓(백성)으로 더불어 밤에 일어나서 밭에 埋伏(매복)하였다가
  3. 아침 해 뜰 때에 當身(당신)은 일찌기 일어나 이 城邑(성읍)을 掩襲(엄습)하면 가알과 그를 좇은 百姓(백성)이 나와서 當身(당신)을 對敵(대적)하리니 當身(당신)은 機會(기회)를 보아 그들에게 行(행)하소서
  4. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 모든 百姓(백성)이 밤에 일어나 네 떼로 나눠 세겜을 對(대)하여 埋伏(매복)하였더니
  5. 에벳의 아들 가알이 나와서 城邑(성읍) 門(문) 入口(입구)에 설 때에 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 百姓(백성)이 埋伏(매복)하였던 곳에서 일어난지라

  1. And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against thee.
  2. Now therefore up by night, thou and the people that is with thee, and lie in wait in the field:
  3. And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against thee, then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion.
  4. And Abimelech rose up, and all the people that were with him, by night, and they laid wait against Shechem in four companies.
  5. And Gaal the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with him, from lying in wait.
  1. Under cover he sent messengers to Abimelech, saying, "Gaal son of Ebed and his brothers have come to Shechem and are stirring up the city against you.
  2. Now then, during the night you and your men should come and lie in wait in the fields.
  3. In the morning at sunrise, advance against the city. When Gaal and his men come out against you, do whatever your hand finds to do."
  4. So Abimelech and all his troops set out by night and took up concealed positions near Shechem in four companies.
  5. Now Gaal son of Ebed had gone out and was standing at the entrance to the city gate just as Abimelech and his soldiers came out from their hiding place.
  1. 가알이 그 百姓(백성)을 보고 스불에게 이르되 보라, 百姓(백성)이 山(산) 꼭대기에서부터 내려오는도다 스불이 그에게 對答(대답)하되 네가 山(산) 그림자를 사람으로 보았느니라
  2. 가알이 다시 말하여 가로되 보라, 百姓(백성)이 밭 가운데로 좇아 내려오고 또 한 떼는 므오느님 상수리나무 길로 좇아 오는도다
  3. 스불이 그에게 이르되 네가 前(전)에 말하기를 아비멜렉이 누군데 우리가 그를 섬기리요 하던 그 입이 이제 어디 있느냐 이가 너의 업신여기던 百姓(백성)이 아니냐 請(청)하노니 이제 나가서 그들과 싸우라
  4. 가알이 세겜 사람들의 앞서 나가서 아비멜렉과 싸우다가
  5. 아비멜렉에게 쫓겨 그 앞에서 逃亡(도망)하였고 傷(상)하여 엎드러진 者(자)가 많아서 城門(성문) 入口(입구)까지 이르렀더라

  1. And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men.
  2. And Gaal spake again, and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim.
  3. Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.
  4. And Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.
  5. And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him, and many were overthrown and wounded, even unto the entering of the gate.
  1. When Gaal saw them, he said to Zebul, "Look, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains!" Zebul replied, "You mistake the shadows of the mountains for men."
  2. But Gaal spoke up again: "Look, people are coming down from the center of the land, and a company is coming from the direction of the soothsayers' tree."
  3. Then Zebul said to him, "Where is your big talk now, you who said, 'Who is Abimelech that we should be subject to him?' Aren't these the men you ridiculed? Go out and fight them!"
  4. So Gaal led out the citizens of Shechem and fought Abimelech.
  5. Abimelech chased him, and many fell wounded in the flight--all the way to the entrance to the gate.
  1. 아비멜렉은 아루마에 居(거)하고 스불은 가알과 그 兄弟(형제)를 쫓아내어 세겜에 居(거)하지 못하게 하더니
  2. 이튿날 百姓(백성)이 밭으로 나오매 或(혹)이 그것을 아비멜렉에게 告(고)하니라
  3. 아비멜렉이 自己(자기) 百姓(백성)을 세 떼로 나눠 밭에 埋伏(매복)하였더니 百姓(백성)이 城(성)에서 나오는 것을 보고 일어나서 그들을 치되
  4. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 떼는 앞으로 달려가서 城門(성문) 入口(입구)에 서고 그 나머지 두 떼는 밭에 있는 모든 者(자)에게 달려들어 그들을 죽이니
  5. 아비멜렉이 그날 終日(종일)토록 그 城(성)을 쳐서 畢竟(필경)은 取(취)하고 거기 있는 百姓(백성)을 죽이며 그 城(성)을 헐고 소금을 뿌리니라

  1. And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah: and Zebul thrust out Gaal and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.
  2. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.
  3. And he took the people, and divided them into three companies, and laid wait in the field, and looked, and, behold, the people were come forth out of the city; and he rose up against them, and smote them.
  4. And Abimelech, and the company that was with him, rushed forward, and stood in the entering of the gate of the city: and the two other companies ran upon all the people that were in the fields, and slew them.
  5. And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and slew the people that was therein, and beat down the city, and sowed it with salt.
  1. Abimelech stayed in Arumah, and Zebul drove Gaal and his brothers out of Shechem.
  2. The next day the people of Shechem went out to the fields, and this was reported to Abimelech.
  3. So he took his men, divided them into three companies and set an ambush in the fields. When he saw the people coming out of the city, he rose to attack them.
  4. Abimelech and the companies with him rushed forward to a position at the entrance to the city gate. Then two companies rushed upon those in the fields and struck them down.
  5. All that day Abimelech pressed his attack against the city until he had captured it and killed its people. Then he destroyed the city and scattered salt over it.
  1. 세겜 望臺(망대)의 사람들이 이를 듣고 엘브릿 神堂(신당)의 保障(보장)으로 들어갔더니
  2. 세겜 望臺(망대)의 모든 사람의 모인 것이 아비멜렉에게 들리매
  3. 아비멜렉과 그를 좇은 모든 百姓(백성)이 살몬山(산)에 오르고 아비멜렉이 손에 도끼를 들고 나무가지를 찍고 그것을 가져 自己(자기) 어깨에 메고 좇은 百姓(백성)에게 이르되 너희는 나의 行(행)하는 것을 보나니 빨리 나와 같이 行(행)하라 하니
  4. 모든 百姓(백성)도 各各(각각) 나무가지를 찍어서 아비멜렉을 좇아 保障(보장)에 대어 놓고 그곳에 불을 놓으매 세겜 望臺(망대)에 있는 사람들도 다 죽었으니 男女(남녀)가 大略(대략) 一千名(일천명)이었더라
  5. 아비멜렉이 데베스에 가서 데베스를 對(대)하여 陣(진) 치고 그것을 取(취)하였더니

  1. And when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the house of the god Berith.
  2. And it was told Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Shechem were gathered together.
  3. And Abimelech gat him up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a bough from the trees, and took it, and laid it on his shoulder, and said unto the people that were with him, What ye have seen me do, make haste, and do as I have done.
  4. And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
  5. Then went Abimelech to Thebez, and encamped against Thebez, and took it.
  1. On hearing this, the citizens in the tower of Shechem went into the stronghold of the temple of El-Berith.
  2. When Abimelech heard that they had assembled there,
  3. he and all his men went up Mount Zalmon. He took an ax and cut off some branches, which he lifted to his shoulders. He ordered the men with him, "Quick! Do what you have seen me do!"
  4. So all the men cut branches and followed Abimelech. They piled them against the stronghold and set it on fire over the people inside. So all the people in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, also died.
  5. Next Abimelech went to Thebez and besieged it and captured it.
  1. 城中(성중)에 堅固(견고)한 望臺(망대)가 있으므로 그 城(성) 百姓(백성)의 男女(남녀)가 모두 그리로 逃亡(도망)하여 들어가서 門(문)을 잠그고 望臺(망대) 꼭대기로 올라간지라
  2. 아비멜렉이 망대 앞에 이르러서 치며 망대의 문에 가까이 나아가서 그것을 불 사르려 하더니
  3. 한 女人(녀인)이 맷돌 윗짝을 아비멜렉의 머리 위에 내려던져 그 頭骨(두골)을 깨뜨리니
  4. 아비멜렉이 自己(자기)의 兵器(병기) 잡은 少年(소년)을 急(급)히 불러 그에게 이르되 너는 칼을 빼어 나를 죽이라 사람들이 나를 가리켜 이르기를 그가 女人(녀인)에게 죽었다 할까 하노라 少年(소년)이 찌르매 그가 곧 죽은지라
  5. 이스라엘 사람들이 아비멜렉의 죽은 것을 보고 各各(각각) 自己(자기) 處所(처소)로 떠나갔더라

  1. But there was a strong tower within the city, and thither fled all the men and women, and all they of the city, and shut it to them, and gat them up to the top of the tower.
  2. And Abimelech came unto the tower, and fought against it, and went hard unto the door of the tower to burn it with fire.
  3. And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech's head, and all to brake his skull.
  4. Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.
  5. And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.
  1. Inside the city, however, was a strong tower, to which all the men and women--all the people of the city--fled. They locked themselves in and climbed up on the tower roof.
  2. Abimelech went to the tower and stormed it. But as he approached the entrance to the tower to set it on fire,
  3. a woman dropped an upper millstone on his head and cracked his skull.
  4. Hurriedly he called to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword and kill me, so that they can't say, 'A woman killed him.'" So his servant ran him through, and he died.
  5. When the Israelites saw that Abimelech was dead, they went home.
  1. 아비멜렉이 그 兄弟(형제) 七十人(칠십인)을 죽여 自己(자기) 아비에게 行(행)한 惡(악)을 하나님이 이같이 갚으셨고
  2. 또 세겜 사람들의 모든 惡(악)을 하나님이 그들의 머리에 갚으셨으니 여룹바알의 아들 요담의 詛呪(저주)가 그들에게 應(응)하니라

  1. Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren:
  2. And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
  1. Thus God repaid the wickedness that Abimelech had done to his father by murdering his seventy brothers.
  2. God also made the men of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.
